Get Clear, Get Moving
A woman traveling through her midlife passage has a choice.
She can keep pushing through, treating her discomfort as a problem to fix so she can “feel like herself again”—perhaps believing her body and even Time itself are conspiring against her.
Or she can choose the path less traveled—what I’ve come to call the well-seasoned one.
She can listen to the invitation to get clear, reclaim her power, befriend her wiring, and create a life she truly loves.
And here’s the shift that makes all the difference: she moves beyond simply asking, “What’s the matter with me?” and begins living in alignment with a far more powerful question— “What truly matters to me?”
Your “You Are Here” moment
But before we chart a course toward any of those things, we have to pause and get clear about where we are right now.
Getting clear is the foundation of the well-seasoned woman’s approach to life. You cannot move forward with clarity until you first locate yourself with honesty.
Getting clear means recognizing not just what’s working, but also what’s missing. It means acknowledging the beauty of what we’ve built, the strengths we’ve honed, and the moments we cherish.
But it also requires courage—to face the discomfort, the stuck places, the unmet desires, and the tangled-up parts of our lives that we’ve been avoiding.
This is your “You Are Here” moment.
🌿 To support you in locating yourself right now, I’ve created two free resources from A Well-Seasoned Woman’s Chart & Checklist:
Midlife & Beyond Checklist of Symptoms – a practical, compassionate tool to help you name what you’re experiencing, from brain fog and body shifts to emotional whiplash.
Quality of Life Snapshot Worksheet – a simple yet powerful guide to assess what’s working, what’s missing, and what you long for across key areas of your life.
Together, they give you a starting point for your “You Are Here” moment—so you can see yourself with honesty and compassion before deciding where to go next.
Getting clear is not one-and-done
Sometimes we imagine clarity as a single lightning-bolt moment, after which we march forward in perfect lockstep toward a final destination. But life doesn’t work that way.
Getting clear is more like taking a snapshot. It shows us what is true in this moment. As we evolve, so does our clarity.
Think of it like your GPS: you can’t recalibrate without movement. Sometimes you have to head toward an intersection before your next turn reveals itself. You may even find yourself pivoting sharply in an unanticipated direction. That’s not failure—that’s wisdom.
And the beauty is this: nothing goes to waste. Each step, each pivot, each pause honors your constant becoming. You make the best decisions with the information you have, and as you gather new wisdom, you allow your path to shift.
The rhythm of clarity
Sometimes we get clear by sitting still—by letting the stirred-up water settle so what matters most can rise to the surface. Other times, we get clear by moving—by taking a step in a direction that looks interesting, only to discover along the way that we’re actually being called to shift.
Both are necessary. Both are holy. Both honor the truth that you are evolving.
Why this matters
If we skip the step of getting clear, we risk wandering—wasting time, energy, and emotional bandwidth chasing solutions that don’t actually fit where we are.
But when we take the time to get clear, we can move forward with intention. We can cooperate with the reality that clarity and movement belong together.
So before we map out what’s next, let’s begin here: locate yourself. Take that snapshot. This is your “You Are Here” moment.
And from here, with honesty and courage, you can get moving.
